Judas and Me

Judas and Who?
Out of all the people in the Bible with whom we might identify, Judas generally isn't one of them. After all not only was he a thief who stole out of the offering plate, but he denied the Son of God with a kiss.
Today we take a look at how, in ways, all of us have been like Judas, and then reflect upon the fact that even though we often fail miserably like Peter, God uses our mistakes to humble us, build character, and transform us into his image.

From Judas to Peter, from Peter to Mary
We've all denied Jesus by our actions. Jesus died for those who had denied him, those of us who had chosen the pleasures of sin for a season, those sins which nailed Jesus to the cross. For some, their sin ends in everlasting death and torment in hell. But for those whose hearts are broken by their sin and who come to Jesus, we are placed on a new path that leads to everlasting life.
Judas and Peter both had weaknesses. Judas loved money, and Peter was sometimes over-confident to the point of not preparing in prayer to overcome temptation. But the main difference was that Judas lived with his failures and let them destroy him, while Peter had a heart that wanted to please Jesus, and whose heart was broken when he failed.
The fullness of the flesh and the fullness of the spirit are seen when Jesus was eating at Lazarus's home. Mary came in with a box of very costly ointment, valued at one year's salary, and started pouring it over his feet and washing his feet with her hair. Although we don't hear much of anything from Judas, he speaks up here, complaining about the waste. The truth was, the "poor box" was his spoil, since he was both the treasurer and a thief.
How often do we covet what we've been given, wanting to use it on ourselves instead of on Jesus? Our time? Our comfort? Our finances? Our posessions? Our plans? But if your heart is like Peter's and you want to please God in all you do, then God will continue to break you, humble you, and build you up in character and in spirit, until you come to the place that, like Mary, you can pour out that which means the most to you, giving your all in worship to the King.

Prayer Requests & Praise Reports
Baby with Hypoglycemia – Beacon writes, I was just informed by my daughter that baby Dominick has a form of hypoglycemia - instead of his blood count being at 80 its at 13...was admitted to the neo natal unit...on ivs and is responding well. When I told Britt that I would ask you all to pray for him she smiled and thanked me...we are aware of the power of the prayers of the faithful. Will keep you updated! Thank you! Love you all!
Chronic Pain – Karene writes, Hi everyone, Thank you to you all for praying for me. Well, The doctor says I have peripheral Neuropathy (nerve pain), joint hyper mobility syndrome- (over stretched joints) which causes alot of pain, and chronic pain syndrome (all over body pain). so needless to say I am in alot of pain. even doing the simplest thing around the house tires me out so I have to pace my self. I am not used to doing that, but I guess I have to. The doctor wants me to exercise so a couple times a week my Mom and I walk around our neighborhood. We don't walk very far yet but we are working up to it. Right now the doctor has me on Neurontin and extra strength Tylenol for the pain, we shall see how that works. I saw the doctor on 7/7 and nothing has changed; except that the vitamin D level in my body is low so he has me taking calcium and extra vitamin D. I assume to prevent me from getting Osteoporosis. It's really the pits getting old sometimes. I will be 50 in December and I used to think that was so old and now I am almost there. UGH ! Hope all is going well with all of you. I keep you all in my thoughts and prayers. Love and hugs, Karene
Delivered from Depression – Loo writes, A note of praise...I noted many of your prayers are about depression. This time last year I was battling with depression. my GP offerred antidepressants, but I declined. Pentecost Sunday 2007, I had a prophesy I will share. "There is somebody here in a storm, that will continue, you will have to find people to help find your anchor". I did and have victory over my gloom. I pray that you too find your anchors and people to help. A prophesy 1 year later ...from a Brother who never met me said,'I feel God is telling me to say to you rest beside the still waters' Psalm 46:10 "Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth" Stop struggling allow the Holy Spirit to work and get people to help with your anchor. Praise be to God.
